Are City Elections secure?

The City Clerk's office takes election security seriously and helps to keep elections secure by:

Not connecting election equipment to the internet.
Using a tabulator counting system only.
Requiring all election officials to take an oath.
Training election officials to securely handle voting materials.
Securing voting materials and ballots.

Do Houston City Voters vote on the office of Mayor and Deputy Mayor?

No. The City of Houston is a second-class City, according to Alaska Statutes 29.20.230, the Mayor of a second-class city is elected by and from the council and serves until a successor is elected and qualifies. The council shall meet on the first Monday after certification of the regular election and elect the Mayor who takes office immediately.
